Sandra A Cupples, PHD,RN Jan 18, 2014 Report Abuse
Accountability has become an increasingly important in our society, particularly with regard to healthcare. Competent performance by health care clinicians is not an option but a societal and professional expectation. As the professional society for transplant nursing, ITNS has accepted the dual challenge of developing standards for transplant nursing practice and identifying and defining competence. In a user-friendly, bulleted format, the Introduction to Transplant Nursing: Core Competencies describes the competencies relative to the 15 domains of transplant nursing practice for the transplant nurse, the transplant nurse coordinator, and the transplant advanced practice nurse. Transplant nurses have an obligation to achieve and maintain competency in practice. Managers have an obligation to assure the ongoing competencies of transplant nursing staff. This book is an indispensable resource for both.
